Parizeau is right. There never was a referendum for the people of Lower Canada (quebec). However there was a frenchmen from Quebec who lobbied to get into Confederation, George Etienne Cartier.

You frenchmen should be thankful that the British / Canada have invested in Quebec and protected you for the past 240 years since France abandoned its Colony.
